John Hinckley
He fell in love with Jodie Foster after seeing her portray a 12 year old prostitute in the film Taxi Driver, a love which led him to want to hijack her plane and commit suicide in front of her, just so she would notice him. In the end he committed a failed assassination attempt at Ronald Reagan.

The only thing I can think of is celebs getting stalked by people who ‘marry’ them etc. But films have very little phsycological effect on people who don’t have mental illnessess already present. I have studied film for 7 years and have also written a few essays like this!

Hope that one or two of these touches on what you’re asking about.
One famous item is The Psychological Effects of Violent Media on Children. Well known, well researched.
When a film shows movement towards something (the point of view, or POV of the person/camera), a viewer has the illusion that motion is occurring. Viewers perceive motion due to a psychological effect called beta movement. Regualr movies sometimes stress these movements, arousing strong feelings in the viewers… and themepark motion simulator rides capitalize on these effects, and can cause nausea, air sickness, vertigo, and genuine fear in the viewer.
If people with claustrophobia are in a theater where someone is burried alive or trapped in a small room or elevator, their neurosis/psychosis may shoot up full bore into a frightful panic/anxiety attack, so severe they’d have to be hospitalized.
Fear
The hangover of horror movie is largely characterized by a fear. The person may become afraid of the dark, or cling to the companion while sleeping. He/she may cry, scream, tremble, shake or even nauseate, if the horror film has really scared him/her. Fear of losing control, fear of dying are also associated with the horror movies.
Phobia
As a result of watching the situations portrayed in the horror movie, the person may develop a phobia towards animals such as mammals, insects, reptiles, fire, flood, water, blood/injection/injury or height and enclosed spaces. He/she may get disturbed by loud noises or horrible faces.
Here’s what one girl said, which details the psychological impact films have on many of us.
So, after watching a couple of scary movies…i always have these thoughts, like a scared feeling that it’s going to happen to me. For example, i just watched "Paranormal Activity" and "Saw VI" and i was scared shit to go to sleep. The thought of being alone in my bed in the dark drove me crazy to the point where i had to close my bedroom door and lie awake in bed trying to think good thoughts. It went away after about 30 minutes but still it was crazy.
Other movies that come to mind is "Jaws" (too scared to go far out in the ocean alone), any movie that has spirits or ghosts such as "The sixth sense" and any movie that has a bad guy watching/chasing you. Sometimes when i am going to my car or walking to my apartment in the dark, i get this urge to speed up quickly, look around on full alert and get inside before anything happens.
These thoughts usually last for a day or two and then it just goes away. I keep telling myself that it’s only a movie but it still drives me insane that i think it could happen to me. Does anyone else experience this? The funniest thing is that i continue to watch these kind of movies because i feel like i need to. I guess i like feeling the thrill and adrenaline.
